Jennifer Riddel, the artist behind Wandering Hive, was born in Edmonton, Alberta and relocated to Vancouver Island in 2006. Jennifer has been crafting since she was a small child and making jewelry nearly as long. Starting out with embroidery-thread friendship bracelets in elementary school, she has long been focused on wearable art.

An experimenter at heart, Jennifer is always trying out new designs, materials and techniques; her work explores texture, contrast, asymmetry, and dynamic movement. She is inspired by the colours and textures found in nature and is in love with the perfectly imperfect qualities of handmade things. She works with metals, semi-precious stones, reclaimed leather, natural materials and salvaged objects. Her work is unique and she is happiest when working on few-of-a-kind pieces.

In April 2023, Jennifer graduated from the Metal Jewellery Design Program at North Island College. Inspired by this immersive learning experience and armed with new skills, Jennifer hopes to grow her jewelry offerings in the coming year.
